Cyprus Meeting

Cyprus was the last meeting for the Leonardo da Vinci Project partners. It was up to Austria, Spain and UK to flight to this beautiful country and share last findings on ecofashion. Cypriot programme was full of interesting activities as well as excursions around the island. It is impossible to summarize all the moments we spent together, but having a look at these pictures will give you an approximate idea of our week.

Monday 27 April 2015: 

- Welcome and tour around the school

- Visit to Lefkara, lacemaking and silver village
- Embrodery workshop by Lefkara needlewomen

- Visit to Limassol, archaeological site and tourist resort

Chipre era la última cita para los socios del Proyecto Leonardo da Vinci. Tocaba a Austria, España y Reino Unido volar hasta este bello país para compartir los últimos trabajos en ecomoda. El programa chipriota estuvo lleno de actividades y excursiones por la isla. Resulta imposible resumir todos los momentos vividos; estas fotos os darán una idea aproximada de lo que fue nuestra semana.

Lunes 27 de abril 2015: 

- Bienvenida y recorrido por la escuela.
- Visita a Lefkara, el pueblo del encaje y de la plata
- Taller de bordado impartido por bordadoras de Lefkara
- Visita de Limassol, restos arqueológicos y centro turístico


Tuesday 28 April 2015: 

It was the day of hands-on workshops. Students formed mixed groups to design accessories with recycled materials other than fabrics. They were presented at the end of the day.

Fue el día de ponerse manos a la obra de los talleres. Se formaron grupos con alumnos mezclados de los cuatro países y diseñaron accesorios con material reciclado no textil. Al final del día hubo una presentación para el resto de los compañeros.

"We welcome you all here tonight. Your presence honors our attempt to present our creations.

The fa you are about to see is the final result of the European educational partnership project Leonardo da Vinci, in which project participate: Larnaca Technical School of Cyprus, Derby College of United Kingdom, Fashion College of Wiener Neustadt of Austria and the College of Art and art restoration of Vallodolid of Spain.

The theme of our Leonardo project, “Fashion with traditional aspects”, with reference to eco-fashion and the creation of modern garments using recycled materials and vintage garments, was a challenge at times when the economic and environmental are running a crisis.

The first visit was organized at Derby in United Kingdom in November 2013.

The second visit at Wiener Neustadt in Austria in May 2014.

The third visit took place at Valladolid in Spain in September 2014.

During these visits, students and teachers had the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills through visits, seminars and workshops, thus broadening their horizons, their visions and their ambitions.

Thursday 30 April 2015:

Last day of the meeting full of interesting activities.

We started evaluating the project and reaching agreements about the final steps to close "Fashion With Traditional Aspects". Meanwhile, students completed postevaluations tests. 

Later on, teachers and students attended the lecture of prestigious designer Julia Astreou, artist and researcher based in Nicosia; her webpage worths avisit.  http://www.juliastreou.com/

El último día estuvo lleno de actividades muy interesantes. Empezamos evaluando el proyecto y tomando decisiones sobre los pasos a seguir hasta finalización del proyecto. Entre tanto, los alumnos rellenaban la postevaluación.


Después, profesores y alumnos asistimos a la conferencia de la prestigiosa diseñadora chipriota Julia Astreou, que además es artista e investigadora. Recomendamos visitar su página web. http://www.juliastreou.com/


The whole group spent the afternoon visiting Larnaca guided by the municipality cultural services until diner time in a typical restaurant, where we were invited by Municipality to the closing ceremony.

Pasamos la tarde visitando Larnaca acompañados por una guía turística hasta el momento de la cena ofrecida por el Ayuntamiento a modo de clausura.
